Workforce Development Curriculum
Job Market Responsive Programs. The facility's educational programs are intended to respond to evolving employment needs, especially of the area's local industrial needs.

These programs are designed to accommodate both high school and college students as well as part- and full-time learners.  The workforce development model gives high priority to intense and sophisticated school-to-work career paths which meet the needs of the workplace.

The curriculum features a two-plus-two program so high school students can attend during their junior and senior years and continue their education after high school on track to complete an associate degree, or a two-plus-two-plus-two program where they can complete a bachelor's degree.  Built into the curriculum is a sequence of coursework with a core of general education and technical courses to build basic skills and knowledge.  The focus is on coursework with practical applications of content.

 The model is designed to:

  • be customer responsive and results oriented
  • reduce duplication in meeting business/industry/labor  needs
  • unify a broad range of services and programs into a collaborated system to meet workforce needs
  • integrate selected programs between WVU Parkersburg and Wood County Schools to create a seamless system from high school to college.
